  • 1  Straight Cut (SC) Slotted Liner

Slotted Liner
Feature
Straight slots are cut with equal width through the wall thickness of the pipe. Straight slot is the most common type and more economical than the SK slot.

Slotted Liner
Feature
SK slots are narrower on the outside surface of the liner than on the inside. It allows sand grains to bridge across the opening on the liner outside surface, and lets sand grains that do enter the slot continue to flow through, rather than lodging within the slot.

Slot profile strongly impacts the plugging mechanism and thus the sand control performance. In almost all situations SK slots perform better than conventional straight cut or keystone slots.

  • Common Patterns
Pattern designs should meet the requirements of production capacity, strength and stability of the wells. An important consideration is the open flow area rate based on factors such as well depth, fluid properties and required flow rates etc. Common patterns include parallel, overlapping, staggered and gang shown below:

1 Parallel Pattern

A parallel pattern has repeated slot columns, evenly spaced around the circumference.

2 Overlapping Pattern

An overlapping pattern has overlapping slot columns evenly spaced around the circumference.

3 Staggered Pattern

A staggered pattern has repeated slot columns, evenly spaced around the circumference. Alternate columns are offset circumferentially to create a staggered pattern.

4 Gang Pattern

A gang pattern has repeated columns of ganged slots (i.e. two parallel slots cut in close proximity), evenly spaced around the circumference. Gang slot columns are offset to create a staggered pattern.
